10th Anniversary!
Wednesday, June 17, 2008

Ten years ago today, a group of Earth 2 fans gathered in Las Vegas to celebrate the show with fellow fans and cast members. Clancy was scheduled to attend, but last minute work scheduling sent him to Canada to film Vendetta for HBO. Those of us who were supposed to be at his table for the "Earth 2 Breakfast Bash" were instead given a surprise -- Clancy had set up a phone call with the event co-coordinator, Beth, so we could each speak with him even though he wasn't able to attend.
It was while sitting around Beth's hotel room on June 17, 1998, that she brought up the idea for a fan club to celebrate Clancy's work, and we all agreed it would be a great thing to do. And so the group was born, soon followed by the creation of this site. Now, a hundred chats, dozens of newsletters, several charity auctions, a handful of fan club meet-ups, and one amazing convention later, we're still going strong and looking forward to what may come in the future!
So, thank you, Beth! Thank you, Clancy! And thank you to our many visitors and fans whom I've met over the years because of this site and the fan club!
-Kim

2008 Updates
Saturday, February 16, 2008
It's been a while since we've posted some news! Clancy celebrated a birthday early last month -- Best Wishes to him!
He has several projects on deck, including two movies that were completed last year and are still waiting for release dates:
The Burrowers is a film by J.T. Petty set in a old west town with a bit of horror thrown in:
The Burrowers tells the story of a band of courageous men who set out to find and recover a family of settlers that has mysteriously vanished from their home. Expecting the offenders to be a band of fierce natives, the group prepares for a routine battle. But they soon discover that the real enemy stalks them from below.
The movie will also have short "webisodes" that will air on the FearNet channel and on their website. According to the site Bloody Disgusting, as of Feb 7th, the film is still in post and the director plans on it being ready for the studio, Lionsgate, late next month. The web site Twitch posted some concept art for the film [see it here] -- creepy!
The Express is a Universal film based on the true story of 1960s college football hero Ernie Davis (played by Rob Brown), the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy, and his NFL career cut short by leukemia. You can read more about Davis at Wikipedia.
Dennis Quaid stars in the film as Ben Schwartzwalder, the head football coach at Syracuse University. Clancy plays Roy Simmons Sr., an assistant coach in 1959, the year the Syracuse team won the national championship (read more about Simmons at the Syracuse Hall of Fame site).
IMDb has a few images (none of CB), and there's a video on YouTube that was taken by one of the background extras in the movie during a dance scene -- also no CB, but interesting to see.
And, as always, keep your ears open and you will still hear Clancy as the Voice of Home Depot in their commercials and radio spots! Not to mention SpongeBob reruns (Mr. Krabs) and various other animated series. See IMDb for the current list.
